Sacroiliac Joint Injections for pain and arthritis

To determine where the pain is coming from or to relieve pain is what sacroiliac injections are used for. The injection is administered and inserted on both sides of the spine and the medication for either pain relief or determining the location of the pain is put into the same needle, which is guided with an x-ray directly into the two points. After the medication is given the patient is asked to perform normal activities to see if the pain is still occurring. If the pain is no longer occurring then no further steps need to be taken and the patient can request the mediation another three times within the first year. If the pain is still occurring then the location of where the pain is coming from will be determined and medication will then be inserted into that location.
