Radiofrequency Ablation for back pain and arthritis

Radiofrequency Ablation for back pain and arthritis

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a procedure used to relieve back pain caused by injury or arthritis. Pads that distribute electrical current produced by radio waves are placed on the area where the pain is being generated. The pain relief from RFA can last between six to 12 months depending on the location and severity of the damage. At IPIWF x-ray guidance is used to determine the exact location where the damage is in the back to ensure proper placement of the pads.
